(LOS ANGELES) -- Bill Cosby's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is staying on the famed sidewalk, despite his being charged Wednesday with aggravated indecent assault in connection with an alleged 2004 incident.
Leron Gubler, the president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, addressed the status of Cosby's star in an email to The Hollywood Reporter. "The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has received inquiries asking whether we are planning to remove the star of Bill Cosby. The answer is no," he wrote.
"The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark. Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk," he continued.
The star was awarded to the comedian in 1977.
Cosby was charged Wednesday with aggravated indecent assault in connection with an allegation that he drugged and sexually assaulted a woman at his home in 2004.
